Jerry & Edna Helgren

Picket Fence Farm began in 1962 as a purebred Angus cattle operation and became known as a leading breeder of seedstock throughout the world. Picket Fence exported cattle and semen to sixteen foreign countries in addition to enjoying a strong United States market. The farm was one of the first to market Angus cattle to the Soviet Union with three bulls and ninety-three females being exported in 1971.

For more then twenty years, Picket Fence exhibited many championship animals at major shows. Jerry Helgren earned the reputation as a leading livestock judge as well as breeder, judging more than one hundred Angus events in the United States, Canada and Australia.

The Picket Fence Angus herd was dispersed in 1980, with Jerry and Edna Helgren becoming founders of Picket Fence Livestock Exports.

Picket Fence is the official United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) approved North American quarantine station for Australia. It is the coordinator for importers and exporters of beef and dairy cattle, sheep, goats, alpacas, llamas and other species.
